You Too Can Look Just Like Cassie

We go to A LOT of Royals games.  The giveaway shirts are so huge!  Since they are a man's XL, the sleeve hangs down past my elbow and I look like I am wearing a tent.  Drives me crazy!!  Then one day I went nuts and started cutting one up.  Now I cut up every shirt I own.  They are more comfortable this way and I don't feel like I am being choked by a collar.  Bonus! I have a great tan on my shoulders! Woot!
Let's get started, shall we?
First you want to choose your shirt.
Next, I turn it inside out and cut off the sleeves...Get 'er done!

See my pretty scissors...I have to hide those...or else my family will open raw bacon with them...true story.
I like to cut straight across the top of the shirt, I do it right above the collar, it will be hidden when you sew.  If you want a shorter shirt, you can cut under the ribbing from the collar.

Sew up the sides...
Next, you are going to flip over the top and sew a tube for the elastic to go through.  Make sure you leave a hole about an inch wide at the end for the elastic to go through.  I usually start and stop under the armpit.
Do you see that button?  The zig zaggy one?  It is a stitch that you use when you need something to stretch...like the top of this shirt.  It keeps your stitches from popping when you pull it over your lady parts, kwim?

After you sew your tube, pull your elastic through.  Add a safety pin to the end to help with maneuvering.  Manooooover.  Sew the hole that you left to pull it through and Viola! You've been Cassified!

Way to go!  p.s. I am indeed Proud to be Awesome!

Try it!  You'll never wear a shirt the same way again.  =)

  2. LOVE the Cassie action shots! I couldn't wear this--letting the girls go commando in public is NOT an option, lol (and strapless doesn't cut it either)!

  3. I've been wanting a tube top for when I'm working in the yard -no tan lines- but couldn't find a cheap one that wouldn't show my belly (not a good idea with neighbors!). So I'm totally cutting up one of my husbands shirts soon...and it will be free even better. Thanks
