Stocking Decorating Tradition

I am the Mayor of my Target on Foursquare.
I take that job very seriously.
I like to go there 3 or 4 times a week to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
As I was wandering about, like I do...I found myself in the stocking aisle.
We are taking a trip to Branson to see the lights for Christmas.
Usually when we take a road trip, I fill bags with fun things and snacks for the kids to keep them from fighting.   It usually works for about the first hour.
So I thought I would be super clever and switch out the bags for stockings.
Then the flood gates opened!
Why not start a new tradition?!!
Let's all get together, decorate stockings, write letters to Santa(thus making it easier for me to fill said stockings) and have some cupcakes!  Any time is a good time for cupcakes.
Santa comes to our house and fills stockings for 8 of us.
We have bonus kids and now significant others (Hi, Haley!), this was going to make my life so much easier.
So I bought some stockings.

I didn't need to buy anything else since I literally have a Scrapbook Store in my home.
Woot!  Go Paper Issues!
I sent out a group text inviting everyone to the Par-tay.
I did this before I got out of the stocking aisle.  I was so excited!
We all gathered at the table and wrote letters to Santa:
Then we decorated stockings and poured glitter all over the place!  Yay!!!
We tucked our letters to Santa in the stockings and I felt like my life was complete.
When they leave our house for Christmas they can take their full stocking with them.
We'll start it all over again next year.
I love new traditions.

  1. How fun! Love that you sent the text from the stocking aisle- totally something I would do! :)

  2. LOL on being the Major of Taget. Maybe I will become the Major of my Target when they finally open them in Canada in 2013. I'm dying for that to happen. I <3 Targé. :) I love your stocking decorating party idea. Looks like fun.
